Crailsheim during the Nationalsocialism

Economic situation in Crailsheim - economic upswing

Already in 1932 there were workcamps called "Reichsarbeitsdienst (RAD)". With these measures the NSDAP wanted to reduce the number of unemployed people.

Remedies against the unemployment in Crailsheim were projects like one called "Jagstverbesserung", i.e. unemployed people straightened the river Jagst , so that they were occupied. Such job- creating measures led to lower unemployment rates. In June 1935 the RAD became a duty for the youngsters. There they wanted to teach the youngsters to be faithful, comradely and to fulfill their duties.

Since autumn 1935 the economic upswing continued. With the establishment of a military airfield the firms in and around Crailsheim got new orders.

Another important reason for the economic upswing in Crailsheim was the establishment of an ordance factory called "Robert Bosch GmbH". It produced e.g. sparking plugs, batteries, headlamps or dynamos.

The effects of these two foundations were a creation of new jobs, a big amount of new tax- payers came to Crailsheim, and thus there was a boast in the economy.
