Hans Scholl and his Family

Robert Scholl, the father, was mayor in Ingersheim from October 1917 till December 1919, then an independent municipality. He was elected on September 12th, 1917 and swore in on October 15th, 1917.

Through his a little bit too progressive way and because the couldn't prove himself as a worthy representative of the municipality at village festivities and other events ,( how the people expected it from a man in his position ) people were reserved. Because of that his reputation at the people of Ingersheim was only average.

He got a salary of 2400 "Reichsmark" every year. During world war 1 he was one of the few pacifist, who didn't take part in the general enthusiasm of war. He served in a medical company. After the war he didn't belong to any political party.

He had a natural authority, which was respected by the children. The children could go their own ways. Hans Scholl's mother was a former Lutheran nurse and very religious Christian, who gave her deeply rooted belief especially to Hans Scholl. Later, when her husband was mayor, she looked very often at social affairs, because she felt attracted by socially weak persons.

After his two years as mayor in Ingersheim, he became mayor in Forchtenberg on January 1st, 1920. On May 9th, 1921 their second daughter Sophie Scholl was born.
