Biography of Hans Scholl

After a violent argument he turned away and quit the "HJ". From that time onwards he was in a forbidden youth organisation. Because of that he got caught in 1937 and went to prison for a short time.

From 1939 on he studied medicine at the "Maximilian University" in Munich. There he was, like his later friends - Willi Graf, Alexander Schmorell and Christoph Probst - a member of the "Studentenkompanie Medizin" (medical student company). This meant that they could be sent to war if it was necessary.

With his regime - critical friends he established the resistance organisation "THE WHITE ROSE". In July 1942 they wrote their first leaflet. In autumn 1942 Hans was ordered with the student company to Russia. After his return he continued with his resistance against the "NS-regime".

On February 19th, 1943 he was caught with his sister Sophie while they distributed leaflets in the university of Munich. They were condemned to death and executed on February 22nd, 1943 (Sentence of Death).
